Pathways to a Resilient Pacific: not theoretical but possible
– a localisation in preparedness and response agenda
The Pacific Humanitarian Partnership (PHP) Meeting is the annual assembly of representatives from national authorities and humanitarian partners from across the region. With the frequency of disasters in the region and the large number of actors that operate in the Pacific disaster risk management space, the event brings together actors to strengthen the alignment of preparedness and response activities with Government plans. The PHP serves as a unique platform to cultivate connectivity, share best practice, critically analyze challenges and find practical solutions.
As part of the Pacific Resilience Week, the 2017 PHP Meeting will build on the outcomes of the World Humanitarian Summit; localization and preparedness in humanitarian assistance through an integrated approach with Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change action. These themes underpin Goal Three of the Framework for Resilient Development in the Pacific (FRDP): Strengthened disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
